He is an accredited member of CallerLab and the North & South Carolina Callers Association. He has been a member of the European Teachers and Callers Association; a member of the Spokane WA. Callers Association; the Caller's and Cuer's Council of the Greater Fayetteville Area, the Overseas Dancers Association. He has served in numerous capacities within these associations. He has called at numerous festivals throughout the United States and Europe and has conducted several Caller Clinics.

Monk retired from the United States Air Force with over twenty six (26) years service. He is a disabled veteran, a lifetime member of the DAV, Lifetime member of the American Legion and VFW, at the present time he is Quartermaster of the local VFW Post 6983 and Treasurer of Local Masonic Lodge 556 in Erwin NC. He is a member of the Angier Baptist Church.

Monk presently calls for the Angier Twirlers and the Angier Advance Club.

His travels has taken him to twenty six (26) states and eight (8) foreign countries including, Germany, France, Belgium. Luxembourg, Holland, England, Turkey and Canada.

Monk and his wife Ann have three children and seven grandchildren.
